Our origins date back to Christchurch in 1950 as family-owned Geo Berryman Typewriters, the largest independent office products supplier of its time, and the first IBM dealer in the country. We have grown our footprint and our product range multiple times over since then, through various ownership and name changes.
In the 1990s and early 2000s we were known as Corporate Express and Staples, and briefly we were Winc.
In 2017 the private equity owners of Staples/Winc were required by NZ's Commerce Commission to sell the business as a going concern.
In 2018 the assets were acquired by four private individuals, Kiwis – at which point we set about standing NXP up in it's own right. Branding, ERP system, supply chain, management, web portal – it's been a significant undertaking to disentangle Staples/Winc from it's Australian parent and to be operating NXP in it's current form.
And what a terrific enterprise we now have. NXP in 2022 will have annual revenue of $130m, more than 12,000m2 in warehousing space, with 205 staff employed. The business is a vital part of supplying New Zealand's productive sectors. We're growing steadily – broadening our client and product reach.
